KOCHI: The 32-cents land of Seematti at the Madhava Pharmacy Junction on the M G Road has been acquired for the Kochi Metro Project. The acquisition procedures were conducted by a team led by deputy collector Shobana and tahsildar Shibu P Paul. Seematti was first reluctant to surrender their land and following that the additional chief secretary and also the KMRL managing director Elias George directed district collector M G Rajamanikyam to acquire the land forcibly.
Sreematti did not oppose when revenue officials came to acquire the land today. The land was given voluntarily and will cooperate with the construction of the metro, said Beena Kannan, the managing director of Seematti.
