Allegations against ministers baseless: CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Refuting allegations of corruption against ministers, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said in the Assembly on Thursday that  all those allegations didn’t have proper base and because of that, the ministers image won’t get affected. On the other hand,  it is the Opposition which will stand to lose from these baseless allegations.

“I am totally rejecting the allegations that three ministers had taken bribe. It is not the right thing for the Opposition to level allegations without substance. The charges do not deserve any consideration. The CD that was released yesterday doesn’t have the talks by ministers. Those behind the allegations have vested interests and harbour animosity against the government.  This might have come from the grudge over the closing down of bars,” the CM said, adding that the Opposition should clearly write down and give him the allegations over bar bribery.

Today in the Assembly, the Opposition had sought permission for adjournment motion over bar bribery. They also demanded that Mani be not allowed to present the budget.

Even when the Opposition members reached the Assembly today with placards against Mani, CM reiterated that Mani himself would present the budget.
