People will blame govt, if action is not taken against erring MLAs: CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the people will blame the government if  it doesn’t take action against the ‘unruly’ MLAs. But the UDF MLAs will not be made scapegoats. “ The Opposition MLAs’s high-handedness has brought shame to all Malayalis. They had forgotten all rules and regulations and that is why they are now blaming the UDF,” the chief minister said.

Expressing his resentment over Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan’s speech in the Assembly, Chandy said the way he spoke in the Assembly didn’t match his position. “ When one has to face back-to-back setbacks in life, he can only be expected to talk like an insane person. At the day of the incident, the Opposition MLAs had not complained against the UDF MLAs. The allegation that the women MLAs was humiliated is baseless. But even then, we are ready to view the videos footages together with the Opposition. We don’t have any ego and are ready for any kind of compromise. But the Opposition is not ready for that,” he said.

The Opposition in Kerala is the one which knows only to organise protests. Action will not be taken against Watch and Ward in the name of what had happened in the Assembly. Finance Minister Mani’s seat was shifted to the second row as there was indications of the Opposition planning to block Mani using women MLAs as shield.

However, Chandy said the UDF  MLAs could have avoided distributing ladoos soon after Mani presented the budget.
