VS scoffs at Vigilance Advisor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has ridiculed advisor to Vigilance, saying, he might not have read the CrPC even for a single time. He made this remark in wake of the advisor giving legal advice to the government that there was no need for special investigation against Excise Minister K Babu.

“Mani’s case is different from Babu’s. Nowhere in the CrPC, it is said that joint inquiry is enough for two crimes. The government should clarify on which legal basis it is going to treat two cases jointly.  Mani is said to have taken bribe in March-April months of 2014. He took the bribe to help open the closed bars. But bribe was paid to Babu in May 2013. This was to reduce the licence fee. Both cases are different. Allegation against Babu was not an extension of allegation against Mani. The Vigilance director should not fall into the gang of corrupt. It will leave a lasting blemish on the director’s post,” VS stated.
