KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode-Thamarassery diocese bishops have come forward with harsh criticism against the government. Thamarassery bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil and Kozhikode bishop Varghese Chakkala have warned that if the government is not ready to change its stand, it will face major setbacks in the local body polls.
The bishops made this comment during the strike held in connection with teachers’ wage in aided sector.
The Thamarassery bishop said the people had lost their confidence in the government, which has failed even to distribute textbooks to students on time. “If it is necessary, we shall sit on fast on Secretariat steps.”
Bishop Varghese Chakkala’s demand was to file case against the government which hadfailed to resolve problems in aided sector. “The government’s step-motherly attitude is an irresponsible move,” he said.
