Black flags waved at CM
KASARAGOD: Protesting against the undue delay in commencing maintenance work of the badly damaged National Highway stretch between Kumbla and Uppala, a group of people waved black flags at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday.
The people expressed their protest at Arikkady locality as Chandy was proceeding to Uppala to attend UDF election meeting for local bodies in the morning. The protesters were cleared from the road by a strong police team led by Kasaragod DySP M V Sukumaran. The National Highway stretch, linking Kasaragod and Mangaluru, is filled with deep potholes. It is an ordeal for hundreds of passengers and commuters to travel through this stretch of the road, especially after the onset of monsoon.
