Admissions to ESI MC in Paripally from next year onwards

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As soon as approval is obtained from the Indian Medical Council, admissions for MBBS courses at the Paripally ESI Medical Colleges will commence from the next academic year, said Minister V S Sivakumar in the assembly. In reply to the submission of G S Jayalal, the minister said acquisition procedures for taking over the college has been completed.

The finance department will take steps for the teachers and non-teaching posts defined by the Indian Medical Council. The college will start functioning as soon as the approval is obtained from the medical council. The state government and the ESI Corporation signed the MoU on October 12.  Free treatment would be provided to employees and their families who have insured in the employees state insurance scheme on the basis of the MoU.

35% of the MBBS seats of the college will be set apart for the children of those insured under the ESI Corporation. The demands of labourers’ organisations on strike has been already accepted. If necessary, we are ready to hold a discussion with the labour Minister, he said.
