KOLLAM: Kodikunnil Suresh, Congress MP, said that atrocities against Dalits by the upper castes, including murders, had risen ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power. In a statement, Suresh alleged that the BJP was behind all recent attacks on Dalits.
The Congress MP said the Dalits had not faced such a terrorizing phase since Independence. Sangh Parivar organisations were being encouraged by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to terrorise Dalits, he added.
Suresh questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the setting ablaze of two children in Faridabad. He said all talk of BJP’s love for Dalits smacked of hypocrisy and treachery.
“The Dalits and backward communities in Kerala should not support the BJP, considering that the Prime Minister had remained a mute spectator to the spate of atrocities. For this simple reason, the voters should reject the BJP and vote for the United Democratic Front as the Congress was the only party in the country that was capable of daring the BJP,” he added.
