A group in Kerala Cong wants Mani to quit at least as Law minister

KOTTAYAM: Rifts widened in Kerala Congress following the Vigilance Court verdict that there is prima facie evidence to suggest Finance Minister K M Mani took Rs 25 lakh bribe to facilitate the reopening of closed bars.

A group in the party opined that it was better Mani at least relinquished law minister’s post. “If Mani had resigned when allegations were raised against him, the present crisis could have been avoided,” they said.

There was also demand in the group for holding a high power committee meeting to discuss the present crisis. Even P C Joseph MLA shot off a letter to Mani, making this demand, which was later rejected by the latter.
