Cheriyan Philip gets Women’s Commission’s notice

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Women’s Commission has sent a notice to Left fellow traveller Cheriyan Philip for his Facebook posts allegedly mortifying women.

The show cause notice has asked for his explanation on his comment “humiliating women functioning in the political field”. It was the National Women’s Commission which had directed the State Commission to send the notice, after the issue came to its notice.
Cheriyan’s Fb post was that Youth congress’ ‘shirtless strike’ was a protest with a difference and certain Congress women who had secretly disrobed in front of certain leaders had managed to get seats.

When the statement became controversial Cheriyan gave explanation. But when that also became a controversy, Cheriyan withdrew his statement.
