VT Balram against ‘fascism’ in colleges

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress MLA V T Balram has protested against the bizarre incident in which eight college students including girls and boys were suspended for allegedly sitting together on the same bench in their classroom. The incident is said to have happened in Kozhikode Farook College.

Balram has said on his Fb page that such rules, whether it is written or not, can never be accepted.

“Earlier also, there have been reports from the college about separating boys and girl in the name of moral policing. Whether it is a government institution or an unaided one, a college can’t take such arbitrary decisions. And therefore, the Education department should interfere in the issue. Those involved in such acts are trying to spread out the carpet of fascism, which goes against progressive values of Kerala.”
