120 held for drunk driving

KOTTAYAM: The local police have intensified its efforts to crackdown on drunk driving. In raids conducted in various parts of the district on Sunday evening, the police took 120 persons into custody. The inspections were conducted at the behest of the District Police Chief C Rajagopal. The raid lasted for nearly three hours. Police sources said, 11 persons, the highest number, were apprehended under Pala police station limits. The number of persons taken into custody at other places are Changanassery 10, Kottayam (East) – 9, Kottayam (West) and Gandhinagar – 7, Kumarakom and Ayarkkunnam – 4, Vakathanam – 3, Karuckachal, Ettumanoor and Pampady – 5, Manarcad and Chingavanam – 3.
