NEW DELHI: The CBI has turned down the probe on the conspiracy angle to kill RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. CBI director Ranjit Sinha approved the report of S Arunachalam, agency joint director, Chennai region on it. The report of Arunachalam has mentioned that no proofs were obtained on the friendly relationship of the accused in TP murder case with Fayaz, accused in the gold smuggling case. CBI’s stand has been informed to the union personal ministry.
The case registered at Kozhikode Chombala Police Station on the complaint of Rema that a conspiracy was hatched to murder her husband TP, was handed over to the CBI by the state government. The CBI was not willing to take over the case as the court had convicted the accused after an investigation conducted. Following pressure from the state government, the ministry of personnel directed the CBI to seek chances in taking over the case.
The CBI asserted that in a situation where the accused has been sentenced, they cannot probe the conspiracy alone. No proofs were obtained on the relationship of the accused of TP murder case with Fayaz when the latter was questioned in the gold smuggling case.
