KOTTAYAM: Justice K T Thomas said he will not change his stand to impress the people of the state on the Mullaperiyar issue. I was not included in the Mullaperiyar high-powered panel to appear for the state and for that they should have hired counsels, Thomas said when Joseph’s statement was brought to his notice.
11 judges of the Supreme Court had opined that the dam was safe and so there is no need to worry. Kerala should seek the share of power generated by using the water of Mullaperiyar and if it is sought, the state has to accept the fact that the dam is safe. That is why they are not asking power, Thomas said.
Thomas asked to stop the canards that the court verdict is a setback for the state. I am only against raising the water level to 142 feet, he added.
