Oil price: CPM plans agitation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State committee meeting held under the chairmanship of politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to start agitations against the petrol-diesel price hike. As part of this, a torchlight  procession was held today under the aegis of party branch offices. Area-wise demonstration will be held in front of petrol pumps tomorrow.

“Petrol-diesel prices were hiked within hours of the presentation of the budget, despite the fact that crude oil price remained low at $60/barrel. When its price came down, Central-State governments tried to increase revenue and increase the income. And hence, the benefits of reduction in crude oil prices has failed to reach the people,” the State committee observed.
