‘Salim Raj backed out from Narco test under political duress’

KOCHI: There are hints that Salim Raj, a former gunman of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and an accused in the Kalamssery land grab case, didn’t agree for scientific tests including Narco analysis test, due to political pressure.

Earlier Salim had given a written consent to the CBI, stating that he was ready for all scientific tests including Narco test. On the basis of this he even appeared before the chief judicial magistrate court and recorded his statement after CBI moved an application in this regard.

The CBI’s intention was to conduct tests like Narco Analysis, Polygraph, Brain Mapping on Salim Raj. But as he has objected to the tests, CBI will be in a fix.

As per law, an investigation officer can conduct the above tests only with the consent of the accused. It is said that though Salim knows the credibility of his statements will be questioned, he withdrew from tests due to intense political pressure.

It is also rumoured that if Salim is convicted on the basis of Narco tests, certain people in the chief minister’s office will also fall in legal trap.
