VS conspicuous by his absence in State committee meeting

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan who had walked out of CPM State conference didn't turn up to attend the meeting of the new State committee elected by the CPM conference.

The new committee’s first meeting  which started today will end tomorrow. VS was excluded from the new committee. But he could have participated in the meeting as a member of the Central committee and he was also invited to the meeting on that ground. But VS is reportedly adamant that he will not attend the meeting.

Achuthanandan had left the conference venue after the Alappuzha party conference passed a resolution stating that VS had degraded to the level of a leader with anti-party stand and the resolution was made public. VS didn’t return to the conference even after the party general secretary called him back.

According to sources, VS’ stand is that he will not attend in the committee meeting as long as the criticism that he is a party renegade exits within the party and the resolution. He had asked the Central leadership to change that term from the resolution. He would chart the future course of action only after the Central leadership response to his request.
Politburo meeting will be held on March 20 and 21.VS’ complaint will be discussed then.
