No dispute in appointment of DGP, says Chennithala

KOCHI: There is no dispute between me and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in connection with the appointment of new police chief, said Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. Talking to reporters here, he said an amicable decision will be taken on the appointment.

Present DGP K S Balasubramanyam will be in service till May 31.  A decision on the new DGP will be taken after that. The government will unanimously propose a name of one person. There is no dispute or any difference of opinion between me and the chief minister on it as seen in some media, he said. A decision accepted by the people will be taken, he said.

Chennithala is interested in appointing jail DGP T P Sen Kumar as the DGP. However, the chief minister wants to appoint a person by looking at the seniority. If it is so, then there are chances for Mahesh Kumar Singla, who is on deputation to the centre.
