Tuesday, June 21, 2011: Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan during his reply to State Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s letter has insisted for a comprehensive CBI probe into the lottery case. The suggestions put forward by the Kerala High Court and the Centre must be included in the investigation.
VS has also asked CM to amend or annul the notification issued by the state government in connection with the case. Chandy had earlier written to VS seeking suggestions to the large-scale irregularities in the functioning of other state lotteries in the state.
Meanwhile the government had on June 18, issued a notification seeking a CBI probe into 32 separate cases in connection with the large-scale irregularities in the functioning of other state lotteries in the state. The notification clarifies that a CBI probe must be conducted according to the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946.
The previous government had failed to issue a similar notification even though the Centre had suggested earlier.
