Saturday, June 18, 2011: Seeking to ensure transparency, the Congress-led UDF government in Kerala has directed all police officers above the rank of Sub-Inspectors to disclose details of their income and assets.
The circular issued by Director General of Police Jacob Punnonse today asked the officers to submit details of income and assets of they and their immediate relatives to their superiors.
The circular made a special note of recent reports regarding fraudulent business dealings like money-chains and alleged link of some police officers with them.
“It is essential for the police officers, who are bound to enforce anti-corruption laws, to be above all suspicion and ensure transparency in their personal and public life. So, it is vitally important that the credibility of the police force is maintained”, the circular said.P
