Thursday, June 23, 2011: MLA- N Sakthan has been selected as the United Democratic Front (UDF) nominee for the Deputy Speaker’s post in the 13th Kerala Assembly. He has served as Transport Minister during the previous Oommen Chandy government. The final decision regarding the Deputy Speaker post was taken at the UDF meeting held here on Wednesday. N Sakthan will file his nomination papers tomorrow. The election of Deputy Speaker to the new Assembly is to be held on June 28.
