THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC’s two buses collided head-on at Mannanthala on Saturday, injuring 37 passengers inside the buses. The injured have been admitted to Medical College hospital. The exact location of the accident is near Maruthur Ariviyodu.
The buses involved in the accident were a low-floor bus fom Kilimanoor Dipo and Fast Passenger bus from Kilimanoor Dipo. The Mannanthala police said that the accident happened when one of the buses was trying to overtake a scooter.
The Fast passenger bus was going from Thiruvananthapuram to Kilimanoor and the low-floor bus was travelling from Vembayam to Thiruvananthapuram. Both drivers are among the injured. Mannanthala police, who rushed to the spot after coming to know about the accident, made arrangements for transporting the injured to the hospital. Besides police vehicles, private vehicles also joined the rescue work.
