KOTTAYAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala Tuesday said hints of police officials having links with ‘blade’ mafia have been obtained. A probe will be conducted and stringent action will be taken against the guilty, he said. The blade mafias will not be allowed to grow in the state, he said.
Chennithala said no politician would be allowed to intervene in the ‘Operation Kubera’ conducted against blade mafias. There are complaints that loan sharks involved in blade mafia are walking free. If there are any complaints against them, one can approach the police. The cabinet meet convened tomorrow will discuss the steps to be taken to make transparent in giving loans, he told reporters.
In reply to a question, he said the sacking of Dr A V George, vice chancellor of MG University, is a lesson to the government and the UDF.
