THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF sub-committee has urged the government to give rights to agricultural land owners to utilise their land for non-agricultural purposes when it turns non-cultivable.
Land owners should be able to use a futile land according to their wishes, provided they don’t leave it barren. The committee, under the supervision of UDF convenor P P Thankachan, was instituted to look into the Paddy-lake rule amendment. The draft report of the panel’s recommendation will be presented before UDF committee meeting on May 20.
The report also sought to solve the inconvenience caused to the people who had not registered their agricultural lands as ordinary land even after it ceased to be cultivable lands.
