THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Oppositon leader V S Achuthanadan has alleged that corruption to the tune of crores of rupees is involved in the government’s decision to handover Alind company to its promoter Somania group.
He said that the government had decided to handover 185 acres of land spread over three states and valued at Rs 4000 crore to Somania group and their associates. And ironically, the group had not done anything to re-open the company, which had remained close for about 27 years.
Coming to know about the ulterior motive of the Somania group, the LDF government on 2010 had brought out an Ordinance to take over the company and submitted it before the Centre for its approval. But it lapsed during the tenure of the next UDF government, which later acted favourably to the group.
