Assembly mayhem: Case against four UDF MLAs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against four UDF MLAs, who allegedly humiliated two women MLAs from the Opposition during the ruckus created in the Assembly on the budget presentation day.

The case has been registered against MLAs MA Waheed, Dominic Presentation, A T George and K Sivadasan Nair, according to the instruction given by Thiruvananthapuram First Class Magistrate.

The complaint lodged by K K Lathika and Jameela Prakasam forms the basis of the case . The four MLAs have been asked to be present in the court on April 20, next year. Deliberate detention, outraging woman’s modesty and attempt to harass are the charges made against the UDF MLAs by the complainants. The case has been registered under IPC 341, 341A and 354.

Earlier, statements of Congress as well as Opposition MLAs were recorded based on the women MLAs’ complaint. The Opposition had also protested for alleged inaction by the Speaker over the complaint.
