Three of family killed in car-lorry collision

ALAPPUZHA: Three members of a family were killed when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry near Thiruvizha in Cherthala on the national highway. The dead has been identified as Radhakrishnan (55) of Punnapra, his wife Sathy (50) and son Sudheer Krishna (22).

The accident happened early Monday morning. The car in which the family was proceeding to Punnapra from Ernakulam collided with the lorry which was proceeding to Coimbatore from Kayamkulam.

The car has been completely damaged in the accident. The couple died on the spot and their son on way to the Alappuzha Medical College.

Radhakrishnan is an ex-service man. Sudheer was working in Hyderabad. Sudheer’s brother Subin Krishnan is also working in Hyderabad.

The bodies of Sudheer and Radhakrishnan are kept at the Cherthala taluk hospital and Sudheer Krishna’s at the medical college hospital. The bodies will be handed over after post mortem. The Mararikkulam police have reached the spot. Transportation was disrupted for some time following the accident.
