ISIS recruitment: First FIR in Kerala registered

KOZHIKODE: The first FIR related to ISS recruitment was registered in Kerala on Wednesday even as UAE deported Malayali youths alleging ISIS link.

The FIR has been registered against one Kozhikode native Riyab, who lived in Ras al-Khaimah in UAE.
The police have also registered a case against Kozhikode Kudangal native Riyaz for trying to recruit people in ISIS via social media.

He is suspected to have slipped away to Syria from UAE, according to Intelligence sources. UAE officials have also been investigating Riyaz’ disappearance from UAE. They believe that he would have joined the ISIS camp after reaching Syria.
UAE had deported four Malayali youths, alleging ISIS link the other day.  They are said to have been operating from Ras al-Khaimah and believed to be part of a 20-member team posted there.

UAE had sent four youths and their families back to Kerala. They were let off after their alleged ISIS connection could not be established through the interrogation. DGP T P Sen Kumar had said yesterday that though the suspects were allowed to go, they are under constant observation of the police.
