Man hacked to death in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man was found jabbed to death with a knife at Palode in the capital city. The dead has been identified as Mohanan Nair of Ilavattom.

Mohanan Nair was found killed with a knife pierced into his chest on Thenkasy-Thiruvananthapuram National Highway at Ilavattom.

He owned Karthika Hardware and a Fancy Centre near his house and a private finance company at Moozhy.
According to his family members a man wearing blue jeans had come to meet Mohanan at around 10 in the night. He asked his elder son and Engineering student Sandeep about Mohanan Nair, who came out and talked to him for a while.

Nair went inside his room, put on his shirt, took his mobile phone and went out with the man in an auto, saying he was going to Palode police station.

But Sadeep and his sister Sariga, a plus two student, said the auto went towards Nedumngadu instead of Palode.

As they had no other suspicion, the family members closed the door of their house and went to sleep.
Mohanan Nair is an active BJP worker.

The body was spotted by one bike rider who came that way late in the night.

Palode police later shifted his body to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College for post-mortem.

His wife is Usha Kumari. The police have intensified the investigation under Palode CI Jayakumar and SI Harilal.
