TIRUNELVELI: Five Malayalis died near Nangeri in Tamil Nadu after the Maruti van in which they were travelling overturned.
The van had lost control after its tyre burst, according to sources.
The dead have been identified as Christa Tima (50), Suma (33), Divya (16), Siluva Tima (40) and driver Jose. All were natives of Vizhinjam.
Eleven persons from the same family were inside the van. Six persons were injured in the accident. Out of that the condition of five persons are serious.
Two injured have been admitted to Asharipallam Medical College hospital in Nagercoil and the rest have been admitted to Kayakumari General Hospital.
The accident happened on Thirunelveli-Kanyakumari Road at around 5 pm on Monday.
They were on their way back home after visiting St Michel's church as pilgrimage.
