Mamalakkandam High School students end strike

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has decided to allot additional posts to Mamalakkandam government school in Ernakulam, following which the students have withdrawn their strike.

The additional posts became necessary as the school, originally a UP school, was upgraded to a High School two years ago.
PRDS LP school in Kottayam, which was upgraded to UP school, has also been allotted additional posts.

Mamalakkandam school students had the other day started fast in front of Public Education Director’s office, demanding recruitment of sufficient teachers in their school. Following today’s Cabinet decision, the students ended their strike.

Though Mamalakkandam School was upgraded, the required number of teachers were not appointed accordingly. The school is the only educational solace for Adivasi students of Kuttampuzha Panchayat in Idukki.
