Don’t cut down on Ration share: CPM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretariat has urged the government to withdraw from the decision to cut down on the Ration share. In a statement, it said that if the government was not ready to interfere in the issue and ensure fair implementation of ration distribution, the CPM would begin agitation.

The situation has reached to such an extent that the card holders are not getting now the ration share they are eligible for. The retailers are moving towards agitation mode as the government is not taking any action to rein in whole sale dealers who often indulge in unfair practices.

The Centre government’s move to distribute ration subsidy through banks will backfire as the poor will have to buy commodities without subsidy at first by paying the full amount.
