‘14-yr-old girl hang self for not allowing to watch TV’

KOVALAM: A 14-yr-old girl, who was hurt after her parents scolded her for watching TV, committed suicide by hanging herself in her bedroom, the police have said.

It was Nithila, the daughter of Premkumar-Deepa couple from Vizhinjam Aattaramoola Vedanvila house, who was seen hanging herself from the fan.

At that fateful day, Nithila’s parents had scolded her for watching TV in the night without studying. Police said, getting dejected over the chiding, she might have committed suicide.  

Her body came to the notice of her parents when they woke up hearing some noise. They immediately informed the Vizhinjam police. The police team led by Vizhinjam SI that visited the spot shifted the body to Medical College hospital for post-mortem after an inquest was prepared.

Nithila was the ninth standard student of Nellimoodu St Crescent Girls’ Higher Secondary School.
