In growth, Kerala lags by 25 yrs: Pinarayi Vijayan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Kerala lags by 25 years in its growth. “Aimlessness and discontinuity of governments are to blame. There were backlashes to development at every phase. The UDF government didn’t implement LDF government’s policy. It had most often taken approaches to undermine several policies of the LDF. Even in sectors such as education and health, Kerala which was the frontrunner, has been relegated to bottom positions.

At the AKG Centre, Pinarayi was speaking after inaugurating the logo of the fourth international Kerala Study Congress to be held on January 9 and 10 under the aegis of CPM State committee. “As Kerala is lagging behind in its progress, the youth find themselves in such a situation that they have to depend on foreign countries for job. The Study Congress in which about 500 experts and 2500 representatives will participate will give a new sense of direction to Kerala’s development and growth. The report brought out in the Congress will be the base for the election manifesto of the party for the upcoming Assembly election. Development draft will be prepared which would be acceptable to all Left allies,” he said.
