Security to be tightened at Calicut Uty

KOZHIKODE: A decision has been taken at the department chiefs meet convened by vice chancellor to tighten security at the Calicut University in connection with the increasing instances of harassment and violence against girls at the campus. A six-member panel has been appointed to prepare a report on the kind of security to be installed. Short and long term security plans will be executed based on the report.  

Pathway lights will be installed on way to the girls’ hostel.  A decision has been taken to appoint security guards at the university entrance.

The girl students' had lodged a complaint to High Court Chief Justice and Governor on the increase in harassment incidents in the campus. Meantime, SFI had alleged the university is trying to trap the students in fake cases. The police had taken a case against two students on the complaint lodged by sports students.
