Four drowned on Christmas day

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four persons drowned in the sea in various places on the Christmas day. One person is missing. Out of the dead, three are fishermen. One person drowned while having bath with his friends. A youth, who came to celebrate Christmas in Vizhinjam is missing in the sea. A 40-year-old youth identified as Alexander of Pulluvila died after his boat overturned while fishing. Four identified as Yugene, Zavier, Joy and Joosa, natives of Valiyathura were rescued by the coast guard. The boat capsized in the strong waves at Puzhimanthura last evening. The body of Alexander is kept at the medical college hospital. He leaves behind his wife Leela and children Anish, Ajeesh, Abhilash and Alphonsya. The Kanjiramkulam police have registered a case.

A 24-year-old youth identified as Deepu, son of Sreekumar of Pallithura in Vizhinjam fell in the sea last evening. The incident happened when Deepu and his friend came to his relative’s house to celebrate Christmas. The coastal police, enforcement and the coast guard have intensified search operations. The Vizhinjam police have registered a case.

Praveen of Anchutehgnu aged 21 died after trapped in the currents at Papanasam last evening. Though he was brought to the shore, his life could not be saved. The body has been shifted to the taluk hospital in Varkala. Two fishermen identified as Aaskar (42) and Antony (43) drowned in the sea in Anchuthengu.
