Statement of Kummanam was a call for communal riots: VS

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a statement released, opposition leader V S Achuthanandan said the statement of BJP state present Kummanam Rajashekharan that people from other religions should be avoided from temple premises is highly reactionary and a call to create communal riots. By making Kummanam the chief, the BJP can be completely brought under Sangh Parivar aiming communal polarization in Kerala.

At a stage when Sangh Parivar started functioning to construct a Ram Temple in Ayodhya which dissected country's secular mind, the BJP chief has made a highly provocative and divisive statement. Kummanam has announced that only Hindus need be seen in temple premises of the state.

People of all religions visit the biggest pilgrimage centre Sabarimala with the same emotions. They first pay a visit at the Vavaru shrine and then climb the steps. The statement of Kummanam ridicules everything. Will he ask the devotees not to visit the Vavaru shrine again? This will unleash violence in the state.
