LOBA plans to launch global leadership awards

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The old boys of Loyola School, Trivandrum are launching two initiatives -a global leadership award for its members and a Loyola Welfare Initiative. These are being launched on Friday 7 p.m., December 11, 2015 at the Sree Mulam Club, Trivandrum.

The first Loyola Global leadership award would be presented to Santhosh Sivan - ace cinematographer who was the first director of photography in Asia Pacific to be awarded membership of the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers (ASC). He is also the first alumnus to be conferred the Padma Awards.

Addressing the media, Manoj Surendran, Loyola Old Boys’ Association (LOBA) President said, “The Leadership Awards have been instituted to inspire the new generation to rise up and impact a positive change to life on Earth. LOBA would like these awards to inspire youngsters to change the world.”

LOBA will be launching its self-funded Loyola Welfare Initiative under which it aims to launch schemes like health insurance, pension schemes, etc. for staff, both teaching and non-teaching, serving as well as retired.

Jacob Mathan, Vice Chairman of the LOBA Organising Committee added, “the Loyola Welfare Initiative would be unveiled the same day. LOBA proposes to generate funds from within so as to fund all its schemes.”

Ind Royal Properties have been magnanimous in agreeing to be the main sponsor of the Global Leadership Awards. Addressing the media fraternity, Managing Director of Ind Royal Properties, Mr. K S Prem Kumar said, “This is a fine social initiative what LOBA is doing for its teachers and we would like to promote such positive steps.” We would like to be associated with LOBA on all such initiatives, he added.
