PUNALUR: One person was killed after a mini bus carrying Ayyappa pilgrims collided with a bolero van at Urukkunil on Kollam-Thirumangalam national highway. The dead has been identified as P D Sunderasan (54) of Aryankkavu. Aryankkavu grama panchayat member Sunny Joseph and Zacharia, former secretary of Aryankkavu Service Cooperative bank, sustained injuries. Seriously injured Sunny Joseph has been admitted at the medical college hospital in the capital city and Zacharia at the Punalur Govt Taluk hospital. The van belongs to Aryankkavu Service Cooperative Bank.
The incident happened last night. Those in the van were returning after attending the funeral of the bank’s former secretary.
Though Sunderasan was taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved. He leaves behind his wife Vijaya and children Veena and Vishnu.
