Suicide bid: Child’s body found

KOCHI: A rescue team on Monday fished out the body of Shone, the four-year-old boy who was thrown into the water by his mother in a suicide bid three days ago. According to the police, the body was found floating near the Pizhala - Moolampilly jhankar service stretch and it was first spotted by local fishermen at around 10.30 am. A rescue team comprising police, Fire and Rescue Services personnel and fishermen had been searching for Shone since Friday.

The body was shifted to Ernakulam General Hospital for autopsy. Thirty-nine-year-old Sindhu jumped off the Moolampilly-Kothad bridge along with her two children, Sheri and Shone on Friday last week following an argument with her husband, Michael, a mason and her mother-in-law.

The woman, a resident of Kothad, was rescued later on Saturday while the body of Sheri was fished out about 200 metres away from the spot. The woman jumped off the bridge while she was returning home after attending a festival at a nearby church.
