THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission Tuesday registered a case against Thalassery MLA A N Shamseer and Kannur district panchayat vice president P P Divya in connection with the suicide attempt by a dalit girl in Thalassery. Chairman P N Vijaya Kumar has asked both to appear on September 27 and give an explanation. The police had earlier registered a case against the two.
The girl had stated that she took the extreme step following the allegations of the two. She attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. Relatives alleged that Anjana was driven to suicide by a CPM leader’s comment on a TV channel calling the sisters a public nuisance. The two sisters were arrested following the complaint of the CPM. She took the extreme step after released on bail.
