Vigilance court orders further probe in bar case

THIRUVANANTAHPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court Saturday directed a further probe in the bar case against former finance minister K M Mani. The court passed the order after accepting SP Sukesan’s plea stating that vigilance former director ADGP Shankar Reddy had sabotaged the case.

Sukesan’s plea pointed that Shankar Reddy had dismissed his report demanding FIR against Mani. He deliberately manipulated the case diary. He removed the details of the statements against Mani from the report. So the investigation could not be completed as it should. My report sought a case against Mani. However, after corrections the report submitted in the court had mentioned that there is no evidence to register case against Mani.

Sukesan had found that Mani had accepted an amount of Rs 25 lakh from the one crore bribe offered to him to obtain bar license.
