THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Writer Anand’s short story Kathirippu has bagged the 22nd Padmarajan Puraskaram. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000, citation and plaque.
C R No 89 directed and scripted by Sudevan bagged the award for the best film. He will get a cash prize of Rs 30,000 (20,000 for director and 10,000 for script), a citation and a plaque.
P Sachidanandan, bor in in 1936, uses pen name Anand. His works are noted for their philosophical flavor, historical context and their humanism. He graduated in Civil Engineering from College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. He also worked in the military for four years in the Short Service Commission. He retired as Planning Director of the Central Water Commission after a career which included extended stints working in Gujrat, Mumbai and Bengal.
