THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president VM Sudheeran has said that the liquor consumption in Kerala has come down by 9.63 lakh litres compared with that of the last year, ever since the shutting down of 418 bars.
Taking part in the valedictory function of Desiya Balatharangam’s nature study camp held at Neyyardam, he said people with vested interests were trying to make it feel that closing down of bars had been of no use.
“By closing down bars, road accidents and crimes have substantially reduced. There is a strong sentiment in Kerala against alcohol and what the liquor lobby has been trying to spread is not true,” he added.
