KOCHI: The Kerala High Court asked KPCC chief V M Sudheeran not to act as a parallel constitution. The court made the statement while considering the plea against denying bar license to Kochi Crown Plaza Hotel. The court directed Maradu Municipality to give bar license to the hotel within two weeks.
Though the delux hotel Crown Plaza had applied for a bar license, the municipality had rejected it. They informed the court that license was not issued as there was a government order not to issue licence to any new bars. However, the hotel owners argued that the government had not issued such an order but the circular was released by the KPCC. The hotel owners also produced the circular in the court.
The court, who stated that the municipality is not liable to follow the circular, directed the KPCC not to become a functioning force above the constitution.
