I’ve left UDF, to vote for LDF in speaker’s election, says Pillai

KOLLAM: The Kerala Congress (B) has left the UDF, said party chairman R Balakrishna Pillai. I was mentally detached from the UDF since last year. Pillai said all relations with the Right Front have been ended with the statement of UDF convenor P P Thankachan that the Kerala Congress (B) was only in principle with the UDF. From now on, the party will be with the Left Front in all the agitations against the government, Pillai said at a press meet.

The Kerala Congress (B) will support Aisha Potti, the LDF candidate for the speaker’s post. Pillai informed this after holding a telephonic conversation with CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Pillai said, “We are now with the opposition. We decided to vote for the LDF candidate after the UDF rejected our vote. We have been crucified for pointing out corruption. If ousted, more evidences against ministers will be exposed. Some in the cabinet are just interested in amassing wealth and are least concerned about the people. We will decide later whether to support the LDF after the speaker’s polls, he said.”
