THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:: If two-wheeler riders don’t wear helmet and happen to meet with an accident, they will go out of Insurance cover. Informing this, Transport Commissioner R Sree Lekha said on Thursday that in that case, the rider will lose the chance to apply for Insurance or get the insurance amount.
“In the Central Motor Vehicle Act, amendments along this lines are soon going to happen. The new amendment to the Motor Vehicle Act envisages that a helmet-less two wheeler rider who gets involved in an accident should be considered as a careless, reckless rider. The amendment will come in clauses from 140 to 146. The Central government is readying for the amendment based on orders from various courts and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal,” she explained.
