NEW DELHI: Rs 872 crore was earmarked for Kochi Metro Rail project in the Union budget presented in Parliament on Saturday. Out of this amount, Rs 273.8 crore will be Centre’s share, Rs 60.64 crore will be available as tax concession and Rs 264.64 crore will be raised as foreign loan. PResentignthe budget, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also allocated Rs 678 for VSSC.
Rs 6.38 crore were allotted for Kochi Special Economic Zone and Rs 161 crore for Rubber board. Other allotments were Rs 136 core for Coffee Board, Rs 95 crore for Spices Board, Rs 116 core for Tea Board, Rs 35 crore for FACT, Rs 151 core for Indian Institute of Space Research, Rs Four crore for Cashew Development Council, Rs 107 for Sea Export Authority, Rs 40 crore for ship building unit in Kochi and Rs Three crore for building Light House.
