THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance department will seek legal advice regarding accepting the CD submitted by Bar Association Working president Biju Ramesh as evidence against Finance Minister K M Mani in the bar bribery case.
The Vigilance’ decision is to submit the primary investigation report in May first week. Biju had given his secret statement before Magistrate as per Rule 164. The Vigilance will submit a plea in court seeking a copy of his statements.
Earlier, the Vigilance was of the view that it was plausible to file a case against Mani, but they are of the stand that there is no direct proof.
According to them, only Biju Ramesh has given the statement that Mani took bribe from Bar owners and other bar owners have not spoken against Mani. The investigation team also says that the CD has edited version of the conversation. It is under this circumstances that the Vigilance has decided to get a copy of the secret statement.
