Mani should be removed from chairman post: Kodiyeri

KOZHIKODE: Finance Minister K M Mani, accused in the bar bribe case, should be removed from the chairman post of the empowered committee of state finance ministers, said CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Mani, tainted in the corruption case, is not eligible for the post. Talking to the media, Koderyi sought the intervention of the Prime Minister to sack him from the post.

Kodiyeri alleged that Mani was chosen for the post due to the illicit relationship of the UDF and the BJP. A probe should be conducted on the assets of Mani and his son Jose K Mani. P C George’s letter against Mani should be taken as evidence. P C George should be made witness in the bar case. If Mani is not guilty, then why is the delay in moving the court to cancel the FIR, asked Kodiyeri.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is trying to protect the ministers and the MLAs named in Saritha’s letter. The political base of the UDF has been damaged. The government has lost its collective responsibility. They don’t have the moral right to continue in power, he said.

RSP should correct mistakes
The RSP, who was with the Left Front for 34 years, had betrayed the front. We don’t have any political enmity towards them. They should correct their mistakes. They should think whether to continue in the UDF.   The statement of RSP national general secretary T J Chandrachoodan against the UDF is a sign of change.

The LDF is sure in winning the assembly and panchayat polls and there is no doubt in it. The win of the LDF in the bypolls is a proof of it, he said.
